Anna Faris’s douchey boyfriend kinda reminded me somewhat of how Christian Bale acted in American Psycho.
I didn’t like it. Didn’t go from comedy to drama well enough for me. It resulted in a drooling mess…but my brother liked it. Topher’s a master at making a scene painfully and hilariously awkward.
@expIorer5148 That’s cool, thanks.

@ecwfanatic93 Much appreciated!

I want to see this movie despite what anybody says.
The hairstyles are wrong. Nothing speaks more 80′s as the hairstyles.
That was not what I expected. I was thinking a D
ha. they look old.
This movie looks pretty awful… I don’t think I’ll be going to see it. Sorry.
cant wait to see it, glad to see there is still a REAL critic left. Keep going Mr. Roeper, your all we got left for honest reviews.
An interesting review, I hope he never stops.
He Just Told The Whole Movie In Less Than 3 Minutes…………..Didn’t Wanna See It Anyways, Looks Lame
@abramreyes They tried, but I just felt it didn’t succeed. But I understand that the 80s is different things to different people, and there likely were differences also based on where you lived in the 80s. I didn’t get the same sort of resonance and nostalgia from Adventureland as I did when watching Hot Tub Time Machine.
LOl i had no idea this was an 80s film by what i saw in the trailer i just assumed that they just had an 80s soundtrack
@TsugaruClan UGH No!!!!! Adventureland nailed the 80s atmosphere, it felt sincere
This movie seems to suffer because it doesn’t feel like the 80s. Simply throwing on 80s-style clothes and an 80s soundtrack doesn’t take care of the 80s atmosphere requirement. Adventureland failed on that aspect, and Take Me Home Tonight seems to do the same. For me, Hot Tub Time Machine nailed it and really brought me back to the 80s. Too many current movies feel more like people who weren’t there trying to throw an 80s-retro dance.
@expIorer5148 Indeed, couldn’t have said it better.
i love your reviews. You’re so down to earth and even though you’re an “older viewer”, you review movies with the perspective of an “older” AND “younger” viewer.
